Amjid Khazir - Founder of Media Cultured

Amjid Khazir is the Director and Founder of the highly acclaimed social enterprise Media Cultured CIC.

Amjid specialises in countering extremism and promoting social unity through education, inclusion, safeguarding and equality programmes.

Distinctively, through the production of award-winning films and the delivery of interactive workshops and exhibitions, Media Cultured strategically challenge extremist narratives, promote social cohesion and deliver high impact services to schools, colleges, and communities.

Media Cultured’s 'groundbreaking' insight together with the educational provisions, resources, and support they offer help to develop learning and confidence around ‘taboo’ topics. Participants to their workshops are able to confidently challenge and resist extremist ideological views through powerful 'alternative narratives'.

Since the death of his Uncle Mohammed Zabir in 2011, Amjid has dedicated his life to challenging all forms of hate and extremism. Media Cultured's pioneering 'Promoting Unity and Tackling Extremism' workshops have been delivered to thousands of pupils and hundreds of educators across the UK.

Media Cultured has received numerous awards and is now supporting the 'Equality Inspires' programme with Kick It Out and has delivered sessions on extremism to Premier League Clubs including Stoke City and Crystal Palace.

Amjid's achievements have been recognised globally. In 2014 he visited America as a guest of the Obama administration and spoke on extremism and social entrepreneurship in various states. Furthermore, Amjid is the vice chair and an active member of his local SACRE and helped to produce the 'East To North East' film and exhibition linked to the BBC and British Library `Civilisations’.
